I’m sorry if this photo offends anyone but I will not hide that I’m sick. If I can help one person with lupus then posting this is worth it. I was found unresponsive this morning at my home. The Ambulance took me to the hospital where it was found that I am in acute kidney failure due to lupus. I will begin dialysis shortly. I will not let this beat me. I know I’m strong enough to battle through this, not just for myself but for my kids. I will be transferred to another hospital this evening that is better equipped. Please pray for myself and my family as I know it’s going to be a very tough road ahead for all of us. Thank you for your continuous support and prayers #ashley #lupus #kidneyfailure #90dayfiance #tlc. **please keep negative comments off this post. I’m already scared and I don’t need to be kicked while I’m already down. Friends have started a go fund me to help Ashley during this unexpected medical issue. The link is in her story

Ashley, 32, says she was “found unresponsive” at her house on Sunday morning and was taken by ambulance to her local hospital where doctors determined that she had acute kidney failure due to lupus.

“I will begin dialysis shortly,” she wrote. (Just FYI: Dialysis is the process of removing excess water and toxins from the blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform those functions.)

Can you remind me what lupus is?

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune condition, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where an unknown trigger causes a person’s immune system to attack their own tissues, causing widespread inflammation.

Symptoms of lupus usually include muscle and joint pain, fever, rashes, chest pain, hair loss, sun sensitivity, mouth sores, extreme fatigue, anemia, memory loss, blood clotting, and eye disease, according to the CDC.

There’s no known cure for lupus, and half of people who have the disease also have kidney problems, like Ashley. (It’s also why Selena Gomez, who also has lupus, underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.)

“I will not let this beat me,” Ashley continued. “I know I’m strong enough to battle through this, not just for myself but for my kids.” Ashley also asked for prayers for herself and her family. “I know it’s going to be a very tough road ahead for all of us,” she wrote.

Ashley’s friends have started a GoFundMe to raise $10,000 to help cover her medical costs (the page has currently raised nearly $1,200). According to the GoFundMe page, Ashley has been placed on a donor list.

Ashley also asked followers to “please keep negative comments off this post. I’m already scared and I don’t need to be kicked while I’m already down.”
