More tick-bites in Bavaria in 2018: How to recognise Lyme disease and TBE
The good weather could be a reason for the Trend: The number of tick bites caused Lyme disease cases in Bavaria has risen by 40 per cent compared to the previous year. However, as you detect the diseases borreliosis and TBE?
4828 cases of Lyme disease registered by the state office for health and food safety (LGL) in Erlangen to 26. November. In the same period of the previous year, there were only 3394 diseases.
The reporting numbers were 2018 “at a high level,” said a spokesman. “However, we can make currently is still no reliable statement about whether the number is in the range of the expected fluctuations in the moves.”
The reason for the higher number of cases could be the end of good weather this year. If people spend a lot of time Outdoors, and the ticks find at the same time favorable conditions, there are more stitches, and thus more diseases.
And the more animals are infected with Borrelia, the higher is the probability that the bacteria are transmitted when a stitch is. The currently available data give no indications of an increase in the infection of the tick-rates. Up to 35 percent of the animals are infected, according to the LGL with Borrelia.
