7 Photos That Prove Drew Barrymore's Favourite Skin-Care Product Is Legit
Gone are the days when getting a luxe facial treatment required actually making an appointment with an aesthetician at your local spa (and lots and lots of extra income). With the advancement of at-home skin-care treatments and the popularity of K-beauty trends, you can get the benefits of a facial at home for a fraction of the price.
One of the most popular face masks is the South Korean at-home facial Hanacure, which has also been trending on Instagram and was even endorsed by Drew Barrymore in a stunning Instagram post. The self-described “all-in-one facial,” is painted on the face and then dries tightly against the skin. It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth and even out the complexion, lift and tighten sagging skin, and brighten.
“When you take it off you are 10 years younger,” Drew wrote of the facial treatment. She says it “changed her life.”
Each treatment mask comes with a Lifting Serum and Gelling Solution that are to be mixed together for a single-use application for the face. As the mask dries, you’ll start to feel it tighten and it’ll look super wrinkly on your face (like how it looks in Drew’s Instagram). Allow the mask to completely dry on the skin for 20 to 30 minutes. Afterwards, simply rinse off with warm water. You should notice results almost immediately—most reviewers on Hanacure’s website report that the results are instantaneous, and get better with every use.
So what’s going on here? We spoke with Purvisha Patel, dermatologist and founder of Visha Skincare, to get her expert opinion on Hanacure.
“It has a combination of peptides and botanicals that could produce results,” she says.
But since the formula is washed off after just 30 minutes, Patel says the improved appearance evident in many Hanacure before-and-afters might have to do more with moisturisation than anything else.
If you want to try Hanacure yourself, you can purchase a starter with one single-use application for $36 AUD, or a set of four for $140 AUD at hanacure.com. “It seems that this $36 mask would have to be used on a daily basis to maintain results, and that could get a little pricey!” says Patel. But there’s certainly no harm in it, and for people with super-parched skin, the moisturising benefits alone may be worth it.
