Brandenburg: parents need to let children be vaccinated in order to get a place in a kindergarten
In Brandenburg have to leave children in day-care centres and in day care up to a nationwide scheme of mandatory measles vaccination. The Parliament decided on Thursday in Potsdam, with a broad majority an application of the SPD Left and CDU.
“The measles are still one of the most dangerous childhood diseases”, – stated in the application. Measles are highly contagious and can lead to potentially fatal brain inflammation. Brandenburg wants to check, whether mandatory vaccinations are also available against other infectious diseases is necessary.
Giffey and Spahn are in favour of vaccination
Recently the Federal Minister for family Affairs, Franziska Giffey SPD) and Federal Minister of health, Jens Spahn (CDU) had called for a measles vaccination. “The health and the protection of the entire population of the limits on individual freedom”, had Giffey said at the end of March.
The Robert Koch Institute were sent in the year 2018, the data of 543 measles cases. The world health organization (WHO) had reported in January that 2017 was a worldwide increase in the number of measles cases by 30 per cent compared to the previous year.
