Amy Schumer Reveals Why She Deleted Her Hilaria Baldwin Posts: 'People Were Really Upset'
Amy Schumer is speaking out after sharing — and subsequently deleting — several social media posts about Hilaria Baldwin, who was recently accused of fabricating her heritage.
The Trainwreck star, 39, opened up about her decision to remove her Instagram posts about Baldwin, 37, on Tuesday, telling Entertainment Tonight that she did it because "people were really upset."
In December, Baldwin shared a snapshot of herself holding her baby boy in her arms while posing in underwear on Instagram. The Mom Brain podcast co-host — who welcomed her fifth child with husband Alec Baldwin, son Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas, in September — joked in the caption that she "can't stop smelling this baby."
Schumer — who is mom to 20-month-old son Gene David — then re-posted the photo of Baldwin and Edu on her on Instagram feed, joking that it was a mother-son image of herself.

"I just thought that was a little funny, and then I saw that she made a video and she seemed a little bit upset," Schumer told ET. "Not at me, but about the comments she was getting. I was just like, 'I don't want to be mean,' and she seemed like maybe it hurt her feelings, so I just took it down."
Later that month, Baldwin began trending on Twitter when social media users alleged that she has fabricated Spanish roots and a Spanish accent despite being born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. Amid the controversy, Schumer shared another post that seemingly referenced Baldwin.
On Tuesday, Schumer told ET that she has also since removed the post because she wanted to take herself "out of the narrative."
"She is amazing and I wish her and her family the best," the I Feel Pretty actress said of Baldwin. "And I hope she gets to visit Spain as much as she wants."
According to Schumer, she thought they "were just playing with each other, and then the whole Spain thing came out."
"I just felt like everybody else watching it. Just like, 'What is going on?' I thought we were still kinda playing, so I wrote, 'Hey, look, I love Spain too.' But then it became this whole big thing and people were really upset so I just took it down [too]," Schumer said.
The Inside Amy Schumer creator went on to say that she meant no harm in her posts about the mother of five.
"Look, she's a mom," she joked to ET. "So I just — I don't want them to be going through a bad time. But also, you can't just pretend you're from Spain."

Schumer previously apologized to Baldwin after The Living Clearly Method author released a video addressing her repost and the body-shamming from other Instagram users within the comments section.
On Dec. 27, Baldwin also addressed the controversy surrounding her heritage, confirming on her social media that she was born in Boston and her birth name is Hillary.
"I've seen chatter online questioning my identity and culture. This is something I take very seriously, and for those who are asking — I'll reiterate my story, as I've done many times before," she wrote. "I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the U.S.A."
