Science Says Napping Will Make You Happier

We all know about the health benefits of getting a solid eight hours of shut eye each night but new research has found that even a quick snooze can improve your mood.

The study saw 1,000 participants answer psychological questions about their napping habits and were ranked on their happiness according to their responses.

They found that those who took a brief daytime doze scored 3.67 out of five while non-napped scored 3.52. But don’t plan on sleeping all day, long nappers scored even lower at 3.44.

“Previous research has shown that naps of under 30 minutes make you more focused, productive and creative, and these new findings suggest the tantalising possibility that you can also become happier by just taking a short nap,” Professor Richard Wiseman, from the University of Hertfordshire, said.

“Similarly, longer napping is associated with several health risks and, again, this is in line with our results.”

That’s it, we’re scheduling a snooze ASAP.
