Bride fattens up bridesmaids with fake slimming smoothie to look best at wedding

Every bride wants to look the most beautiful on her special day, but it seems some will go to extreme lengths to do so.

One woman, named only as Penny, has confessed the "worst" thing she did to look best on her wedding day.

After getting engaged, she chose her two sisters who she lives with to be her bridesmaids – admitting the three of them have always been "competitive".

Writing on Whimn , she said: "I’ve been planning my wedding since I knew what a bride was, and I knew I would get a little bridezilla-ish but this wedding-focused atmosphere may have sent me into the stratosphere.

"I started obsessing about every tiny detail and it was pretty much all I spoke about."

Penny said that both her sisters are gorgeous and she’s always felt plain like "Jan Brady in the middle".

Her eldest sister, Maggie, is "serious, smug and driven" while her youngest, Charlie, is "fun and flirty".

Penny started to obsess about what the wedding photos would look like, and realised she didn’t want a permanent framed reminder that she’s the plainest of the three.

"I set about making sure my sisters looked as ordinary as possible on my big day – well, as much as I could without being totally obvious about it."

As her sisters are fair skinned and blonde, she demanded the bridesmaid’s dresses were a neon yellow colour to make them look "washed out and slightly ill".

Penny confessed that the "worst" thing she did before her wedding day was lie to her sisters about the slimming smoothie she offered them each day to "fatten them up".

Every morning she insisted on making breakfast smoothies saying she wanted them all to look their best, acting like "a picture of sunshine and morning glow".

"I even went as far as buying a weight loss shake and emptying the contents, filling it instead with a mega-weight gain protein powder I found in a body building shop," Penny wrote.

She said it worked like a charm and they had to get their dresses altered to accommodate their larger waistlines.

They day went "without a hitch" – although Penny sometimes feels a "twinge of guilt" looking back at her wedding snaps where her sisters are "washed out and chubby".

Penny says overall she feels happy as she never felt she wasn’t the centre of attention on the day.
